Compact in size but bold in character, the all-new V23 pairs retro-inspired SUV styling with a value-focused electric package.
- The all-new iCAUR V23 introduces a retro-inspired electric SUV offering to the local market, expanding the brand’s local line-up alongside the 03T. It will be available in two derivatives: the value-focused 2WD and the more powerful AWD.
- The 2WD produces 100 kW and 180 N.m from a 59.93 kWh battery, while the AWD increases output to 155 kW and 292 N.m and receives a larger 81.8 kWh battery. NEDC-estimated range is rated at 360 km and 430 km, respectively.
- Both derivatives receive strong standard specification, including a 15.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and a seven-speaker iCAUR sound system.
iCAUR, the exciting new-energy brand that falls under the Chery South Africa umbrella, has officially unveiled the all-new V23, a retro-styled electric SUV designed to bring electrification to a new audience. Positioned just below the 03T, the newcomer combines efficient electric drivetrains with contemporary styling, the latest technology and, importantly, value for money.
The V23 has been designed to make a strong first impression, with an upright, retro-inspired silhouette and compact, squared-off proportions that give it a distinctive presence on the road. Its design combines classic off-road influences, including a flat bonnet, vertical body sides, pronounced wheel arches and robust lower cladding, with a clean and modern execution suited to a new generation of electric SUV customers.
Signature details such as circular headlamp surrounds, slim daytime running lights, chunky bumpers and distinctive alloy wheels contribute to the V23’s confident character. A straight beltline, generous glasshouse, and distinctive Lego-inspired brake light mounted on the tailgate further support its practical yet playful positioning, while smooth surfacing and minimalist detailing ensure a contemporary and refined overall appearance.
Offered in 2WD and AWD trims, the iCAUR V23 carries the same distinctive exterior design across the range, with model-specific alloy wheels serving as the key visual differentiator. The 2WD is fitted with 19-inch alloys wrapped in 255/55 tyres, while the AWD receives 21-inch alloys and 265/45 rubber. Both derivatives feature LED head- and taillights, further enhancing the premium look.
Available colours for the V23 include:
- Khaki White
- Carbon Crystal Black
- Cyan Grey
- Starlight Silver
- Texture Green
- Warm Orange
The 2WD employs a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels, producing 100 kW and 180 N.m of torque. This allows for a 0-100 km/h time of 11 seconds and a top speed of 140 km/h. A 59.93 kWh battery provides an NEDC-estimated range of 360 km, with energy consumption rated at 20 kWh/100 km.
The AWD derivative offers more power courtesy of its dual-motor setup, producing 155 kW and 292 N.m of torque. While the top speed remains 140 km/h, the 0-100 km/h sprint is reduced to 7.5 seconds. The larger 81.8 kWh battery fitted to the V23 AWD also enhances range, with an NEDC-estimated range of 430 km on a single charge and a claimed energy consumption of 22 kWh/100 km.
The V23 is equipped with ventilated disc brakes at the front and disc brakes at the rear, while its chassis combines a MacPherson strut front suspension with a multilink rear suspension setup.
When plugged into a DC fast charger, the 2WD variant requires just 36 minutes to charge from 20-80%, while the AWD model needs a further six minutes to achieve the same. Both variants receive several driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual, Slippery), with the AWD also receiving an Off-Road mode.
Despite its compact dimensions — the V23 measures just 4,220 mm from stem to stern — it offers a capacious interior, aided by its 2,735 mm wheelbase. This provides substantial legroom and luggage space, with plenty of room for five occupants across two rows. The boot offers a capacity of 372 litres, increasing to 994 litres with the rear bench folded flat.
As the entry point into the iCAUR line-up, the V23 has been positioned to offer exceptional value without compromising on specification, with even the 2WD equipped with an extensive range of comfort, convenience and technology. Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and climate control, while the AWD adds heating functionality for the front seats.
The same applies to infotainment and safety, with both derivatives receiving a strong standard specification across the board. A 15.4-inch touchscreen provides easy access to various vehicle functions and settings, as well as Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A voice command system allows drivers to navigate selected vehicle settings without taking their hands off the wheel. Additionally, three USB ports are provided in the front row, including two Type-C ports. Both models are equipped with a seven-speaker iCAUR sound system.
The V23 comes equipped with plenty of safety kit. This includes six airbags (dual front, front side, and side curtain), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and the usual driver assists, including ESP, traction control, EBA, and Brake Assist. The 2WD receives cruise control and a reverse camera, while the AWD gains a 540-degree surround view camera system.
The AWD is also equipped with the following Active Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS):
Automatic Emergency Braking with Vehicle, Pedestrian & Bicycle Recognition
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Traffic Jam Assist
- Lane Departure Warning & Prevention
- Lane-Keep Assist
- Blind Spot Detection
- Front Collision Warning
- Reverse Collision Warning
- Door Opening Warning
- Drive Away Reminder
“The V23 has been designed to offer standout value in the electric SUV segment while introducing South Africans to iCAUR’s distinctive approach to electric mobility,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at iCAUR South Africa and OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “The 2WD, in particular, delivers an exceptionally strong value proposition, combining distinctive design, practical packaging, generous standard specification and efficient electric performance in a package that makes a compelling case for everyday electric SUV ownership. It also brings a sense of fun and individuality to the segment, with a design and character created to bring more joy to South African roads.”
