The safety systems follow the same logic. Pilot Assist, Volvo's driver support system, combines adaptive cruise control with steering support to hold the car's position in its lane and manage following distance on longer drives, easing the physical load on the driver without removing them from the loop. It's a small, unglamorous piece of engineering. It's also the kind of thing that matters more on a long trip than any amount of horsepower.
Safety, occupant wellbeing and environmental responsibility aren't three separate initiatives running in parallel. At Volvo, they're treated as one principle, applied to three different problems.
