- JAECOO sold 2,771 vehicles in South Africa between January and July 2026
- The J5 accounted for 1,935 sales, while the J7 recorded 836
- The J7 is currently the third best-selling vehicle in the UK in 2026
JAECOO recorded 2,771 sales in South Africa during the first seven months of 2026, building on the local presence it has developed since entering the market three years ago.
Lightstone Auto figures show that 1,935 J5s and 836 J7s were sold between January and July. JAECOO achieved its highest monthly total of the period in July, with 481 vehicles sold. This comprised 367 J5s and 114 J7s.
The July result followed combined sales of 394 vehicles in June and marked the second consecutive month of growth for the brand. The J5 has become JAECOO’s principal volume model since joining the local range, while the J7 continues to contribute consistent sales in the medium SUV segment.
“Over the past three years, JAECOO has built a firm foundation in South Africa, supported by a growing customer base and an expanding model range,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager of OMODA & JAECOO South Africa, and iCAUR South Africa.
“The J5 has broadened the brand’s appeal, while the J7 remains an important part of our local offering. Its performance in an established international market such as the UK adds further weight to what we are seeing locally and gives us confidence in JAECOO’s continued growth in South Africa.”
The J7’s performance in the UK provides a notable international reference point. According to the latest registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the J7 is the country’s third best-selling vehicle of 2026, with 26,549 registrations recorded to date.
The J7 has remained among the UK’s 10 best-selling vehicles since September 2025. More than 53,000 units have been registered since it went on sale there in February 2025, making it one of the market’s most prominent recent vehicle launches.
The UK figures also provide insight into the J7’s customer base. Private buyers account for 66% of registrations, while the SHS-P plug-in hybrid derivative has been selected by 75% of customers. Its position in the sales rankings has therefore been supported by a substantial retail component, rather than fleet registrations alone.
The J7 has played a central role in the growth of JAECOO in the UK, where the brand has been supported by an expanding retailer network and continued investment in aftersales services, parts distribution and the ownership experience.
While the UK and South African markets differ in size and composition, the results show that the J7 is finding buyers in both. In South Africa, its performance is complemented by the additional volume generated by the J5, giving JAECOO representation across two key SUV segments.
