• At the Beijing International Business Summit, Chery staged a live multi-vehicle crash test of the Tiggo 9, demonstrating structural integrity and occupant protection under severe real-world conditions.
  • The brand also announced an expanded partnership with Qualcomm to fast-track an AI-driven cockpit, driver assistance, and integrated vehicle technologies.
  • A global drive programme highlighted Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) efficiency alongside next-generation autonomous parking in real-world driving scenarios.

Chery has showcased its latest advancements in vehicle safety, intelligent mobility, and real-world performance through a series of key activities held alongside the 2026 International Business Summit and related events in China.

Bringing together global media, partners and stakeholders, the programme combined technical validation, strategic collaboration and live product experience, reinforcing Chery’s focus on delivering safer, smarter and more practical mobility solutions for families worldwide.

Advancing safety through real-world validation

A central highlight was a public composite crash test of the Tiggo 9, conducted at Chery’s crash safety laboratory and witnessed by international media, dealers and user representatives.

Unlike conventional single-impact tests, the validation replicated a high-risk multi-vehicle scenario, with the Tiggo 9 subjected to simultaneous front and rear impacts. The vehicle sustained a 50 km/h frontal collision and a 40 km/h rear impact, placing significantly greater demands on structural integrity and coordination of safety systems.

The results confirmed that the passenger compartment remained intact, with no significant deformation to key structural areas. Restraint systems, including airbags and seatbelts, functioned as intended, while post-collision systems such as automatic door unlocking and hazard warnings operated correctly. No fuel leakage was observed.

This performance is underpinned by the Tiggo 9’s high-rigidity structure, which incorporates a high proportion of high-strength and hot-stamped steel, as well as an integrated safety system designed to protect occupants before, during and after a collision.

The test also reflects Chery’s broader “Global 5-star safety” approach, supported by a growing track record of top ratings across major international programmes, including Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and ASEAN NCAP, as well as advanced in-house testing capabilities at its internationally accredited crash laboratory.

Expanding intelligent mobility through strategic partnership

Chery also formalised an expanded partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, focused on accelerating the development of next-generation intelligent vehicles. The collaboration will leverage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions, including the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Elite, Snapdragon Ride Platform Elite and Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, to support development across intelligent cockpits, advanced driver assistance systems and integrated vehicle architectures.

The partnership will focus on three core areas:

  • AI-powered cockpit experiences with faster response times, seamless multi-screen interaction and enhanced in-car functionality.
  • Scalable intelligent driving systems designed for global deployment across multiple vehicle segments.
  • Integrated cockpit-driving architectures that unify computing and enable more efficient hardware and software development.

As part of this collaboration, CONCEPT 97, the first concept model from the FREELANDER brand jointly developed by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, is among the first vehicles globally to be equipped with the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Elite, highlighting the application of next-generation cockpit technologies in future premium products. Several new Chery models based on these platforms are scheduled for global release later this year.

Demonstrating technology in real driving conditions

Chery further reinforced its product capabilities through a global long-term test drive programme held in Chengde, where international media evaluated its latest technologies on urban and mountainous routes.

The test highlighted the performance of Chery’s Super Hybrid system, which delivered strong fuel efficiency and energy management in varied driving conditions, addressing growing consumer demand for more efficient and cost-effective mobility.

The event also marked the real-world debut of Chery’s intelligent parking system, enabling remote vehicle summoning and autonomous parking in complex environments. The system demonstrated the ability to navigate tight spaces and dynamic obstacles, reflecting the company’s progress in applying advanced driver assistance technologies to practical, everyday scenarios.

Alongside these technologies, Chery emphasised its integrated safety approach, combining passive structural protection with active safety systems designed to support drivers and reduce risk in real-world traffic conditions.

“This global showcase reflects the direction Chery is taking as a brand, with a strong focus on safety, intelligent technology, and real-world practicality,” commented Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager at Chery South Africa. “For local consumers, these advancements translate into vehicles that are not only more advanced but also better suited to the demands of everyday driving conditions, from long-distance travel to urban mobility.”

A unified focus on practical innovation

Across safety validation, strategic collaboration and real-world testing, Chery’s activities in Beijing and Chengde reflect a consistent focus on practical innovation. By combining rigorous engineering, advanced technology partnerships, and user-focused product development, the company continues to strengthen its global position in intelligent and electrified mobility, with an emphasis on delivering reliable and accessible solutions for modern family travel.
