Women Jetour Owners Create Club to Empower Communities and Connect
Charmaine Shikuhele is not only a Jetour customer, but also the founder of the Jetour Ladies Club. Formed to inspire and motivate, both professionally and personally, this club is about connection - a community of women who want to encourage young girls and children that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
“The Jetour Ladies Club is not only about driving Jetour vehicles, it’s about unity, empowerment and making a positive impact,” says Shikuhele. “I also started this club so that we can come together to assist and uplift our communities. Our members are proud women who are committed to making a positive difference”.
The results of the ladies’ first initiative came to life last week at Khombindlela Primary School in Tsakane, East of Johannesburg. After one of the Jetour Ladies Club members, who drives past the school daily, noticed a learner walking to school in worn-out shoes, she visited the school to speak with the principal. During the conversation, the principal shared that many learners were facing the same challenge and did not have proper school shoes. Inspired to help, the ladies raised some of the initial funds themselves and approached Jetour for additional sponsorship.
Together they were able to provide direct support to learners, including school shoes and stationery for 749 students.
“The event exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, the learners and teachers were waiting to welcome us, which made the moment incredibly special. Seeing their smiles and hearing their words of thanks was something that will stay with us for a long time,” says Shikuhele. “We would really like to thank everyone who was involved on that day to make our first charity drive the success it was”.
Currently consisting of 22 ladies, the Jetour Ladies Club meets every second month to discuss upcoming quarterly charity events, and to share life experiences and opportunities with one another.
Going forward, the ladies remain committed to meaningful service, strong networks, and uplifting social experiences that celebrate empowered women.
While formed independently, the Jetour Ladies Club fits with Jetour South Africa’s strong emphasis on building and nurturing community among its customers and local stakeholders. This includes initiatives such as the Jetour Owners Club, annual customer music festivals, smaller customer events in various locations countywide and other charity drives and support programmes. Across all these efforts, Jetour demonstrates that its priorities go beyond vehicles – the brand is about building a strong and active Jetour community.
