Clipping Point Publishing announces the return of the iconic global media brand in partnership with Hearst Magazines International.
Clipping Point Publishing, in collaboration with Hearst Magazines International, today announces plans to relaunch Cosmopolitan South Africa, marking an exciting return to the market for one of the world's most recognisable media brands.
Known for its fearless voice, cultural influence and celebration of modern young women,Cosmopolitan returns to South Africa at a time when the media landscape is ready for fresh thinking, bold storytelling and a new generation of publishing. Launching throughout February and March 2027 across digital, social media and monthly print editions, Cosmopolitan South Africa will bring its distinctive mix of fashion, beauty, lifestyle, wellness, careers and relationships to local audiences. The publication will combine original South African editorial content with selected stories from Cosmopolitan's international network, connecting readers to global trends and conversations while celebrating the people, perspectives and experiences that make South Africa unique.
“Bringing Cosmopolitan back to South Africa marks a significant step in our growth strategy. Together with TopGear South Africa, it strengthens our portfolio of globally recognised brands and broadens our reach into new audiences and markets. Importantly, this relaunch represents the first of several planned expansions over the next year,” said Avon Middleton, Publisher at Clipping Point Publishing.
“We want that growth to mean something. New jobs, new opportunities for South African creative and media talent, and a fresh approach to publishing. Our ambition is to combine the strength of an iconic international brand with local creativity, backed by a business model that challenges convention and delivers meaningful value to readers, advertisers and commercial partners.”
The relaunch comes at a pivotal time for South African publishing, with audiences increasingly engaging with brands across multiple platforms and expecting content that is relevant, authentic and engaging. Cosmopolitan South Africa will embrace this evolution, creating a connected media experience that extends beyond the pages of the magazine and into the digital spaces where its audiences live, engage and share.
For Clipping Point Publishing, the expansion builds on more than a decade of experience in the media industry and the continued success of TopGear South Africa.
“Our experience with TopGear has demonstrated that strong brands, compelling content and a clear understanding of audiences can create sustainable publishing businesses, even in challenging market conditions. We're taking those lessons into Cosmopolitan, but we're not simply replicating what we've done before. This is an opportunity to rethink how a modern media brand operates, how it connects with its audience and how it creates value for the people and businesses that support it,” added Middleton.
“Cosmopolitan is celebrated around the world for building community with and inspiring Millennial and Gen Z women through delightful features and expert insight that serves their daily lives,” said Kim St. Clair Bodden, Senior Vice President/Editorial & Brand Director of Hearst Magazines International. “We are thrilled to build upon Cosmopolitan’s global legacy as we reintroduce the iconic brand to the young women of South Africa in partnership with Clipping Point Publishing.”
With its unmistakable identity and a renewed commitment to representing the voices, ambitions and experiences of South African women, Cosmopolitan South Africa is preparing to write an exciting new chapter in its history.
The publication's new editorial leadership will be announced in due course.
