This year’s Festival of Motoring saw the launch of another exciting addition to the LDV South Africa line-up - the new LDV T60 Max Plus. This double-cab 4x4 is powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo Euro V diesel engine, producing 160kW of power and 500Nm of torque. Positioned among the more powerful vehicles in its class, the LDV T60 Max Plus is priced from R 699 000.

It’s been a busy month for LDV South Africa, having recently unveiled several new models. These include the launch of the T60 Utility Single Cab and T60 Utility Double Cab, along with the G10+ mid-sized panel van and the larger Deliver 9 commercial van. The brand also introduced the D90 Elite, a seven-seat 4WD SUV.  These new additions join LDV’s existing South African line-up, which includes the T60 Elite Double Cab, T60 Pro Double Cab, D90 Flagship and Terron 9.

Power in the LDV T60 Max Plus is delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission, with a selectable four-wheel-drive system offering 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low modes to suit varying road and terrain conditions. The LDV T60 Max Plus also has Eco and Sport driving modes with ventilated disc brakes at the front and rear to provide confident stopping power. A 73-litre fuel tank complements a claimed combined fuel consumption figure of 8.9 L/100 km.

Practical capability is a key strength of the T60 Max Plus with an 830 kg payload and 3 000 kg braked towing capacity. The load box measures 1 485 mm long, 1 510 mm wide and 530 mm high, and is equipped with four tie-down hooks, a durable spray-in tub liner and tailgate assist for added everyday convenience. The vehicle also has a substantial 3 175 mm wheelbase.

This rugged yet premium offering looks the part too, with 18-inch black alloy wheels, a gloss-black front grille, black wheel arches and a black sports bar. 

Driving capability is enhanced by electric power steering, a comfort-tuned double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, while a rear on-demand differential lock adds capability for more challenging conditions.

Comprehensive safety features in the LDV T60 Max Plus include Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist. These are complemented by multiple airbags, stability and traction control, Hill Descent Control and Hill-Start Assist, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree panoramic camera and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Inside the cabin, this double cab brings a strong focus on comfort, convenience and connectivity. Highlights include dual 12.3-inch digital displays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, leather-trimmed seats, six-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a heated multifunction steering wheel, climate control with rear air vents, and keyless entry with push-button start.

As with other vehicles within the LDV range, the LDV T60 Max Plus  comes with an impressive five-year/200 000 km warranty.

Speaking at the Festival of Motoring, LDV South Africa CEO Gerhard Moolman, said that although LDV has had a slow start since launching in 2024, the brand now has “a solid base in place to build a bright and long-term future in South Africa.” He also said that LDV’s impressive and growing commercial fleet will be the backbone of South African business for years to come.

By the end of 2026, taking into account the brand’s existing network and targeted new dealer openings, LDV is targeting more than 55 dealerships and service centres across South Africa, strengthening its national footprint and ensuring comprehensive after-sales support for customers.
