The Honda XL750 Transalp carries forward one of Honda’s best-known adventure names, combining strong twin-cylinder performance, long-distance comfort and genuine mixed-surface capability in an accessible middleweight package.

For the 2026 model year, Honda introduces E-Clutch technology to the XL750 Transalp. Working with Throttle By Wire, the system gives riders the control and familiar engagement of a manual motorcycle, together with clutch-free operation when it is useful.

In stop-start urban traffic, E-Clutch reduces repeated clutch use. On open roads, winding passes and gravel routes, it delivers fast, smooth gear changes and allows the rider to focus on throttle control, braking, balance and line choice.

The result remains unmistakably Transalp: comfortable, capable and ready to travel. Honda E-Clutch makes that experience easier to access, whether the rider is commuting, touring between provinces or exploring Africa’s extensive gravel-road network.

2. Model Overview

The Transalp name has represented Honda’s do-it-all adventure philosophy since the original model was introduced in 1986. The 2026 Honda XL750 Transalp continues that approach with a balance of road comfort, agile handling and off-road ability.

Powered by Honda’s 755cc, liquid-cooled, eight-valve Unicam parallel twin-cylinder engine, the Transalp produces 67.5kW at 9,500rpm and 75Nm at 7,250rpm. The 270-degree crank delivers a distinctive pulse, while Transalp-specific Throttle By Wire settings focus the engine character on touring and real-world versatility.

The chassis package includes Showa 43mm SFF-CA USD forks and a Pro-Link rear shock, both with compression and rebound damping adjustment for 2026. Dual 310mm front discs, a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel support confident performance on tar and gravel.

The 16.9L fuel tank and WMTC (World Motorcycle Testing Cycle) fuel-consumption figure of 4.3L/100km support a potential range of approximately 390km. Seat height is 850mm, ground clearance is 210mm and the upright riding position provides the comfort and control expected from an adventure motorcycle.

For 2026, Honda E-Clutch is the key addition. Combined with Throttle By Wire, it delivers smooth, rev-matched downshifts and controlled upshifts, including while the rear wheel is spinning on loose surfaces, while keeping normal manual clutch control available at any time.

Importantly, E-Clutch does not remove the familiar manual clutch experience. The clutch lever can be used at any time, after which the system reactivates automatically. The rider can also switch the system off while stationary and in neutral for full manual operation.

The rider can select HARD, MEDIUM or SOFT shift-pedal operation feel independently for upshifting and downshifting. Throttle By Wire also provides an automatic throttle blip on downshifts to match engine and rear-wheel speed for smoother operation.

The Transalp also features a high-transparency Durabio screen. Durabio is a renewable plant-based polycarbonate resin developed from isosorbide (derived from inedible corn and wheat), for select motorcycle bodywork and electric vehicle instrument panels. It's tough and sustainable, providing excellent weather resistance, scratch resistance, and transparency.

Dual two-piston front calipers operate 310mm wave discs, with a 256mm rear disc and two-channel ABS. Rear ABS can be switched off in USER mode for off-road riding. Tubed 90/90-21 front and 150/70-18 rear tyres support the Transalp’s mixed-surface character.

For local riding, the long-travel suspension, 210mm ground clearance and 21/18-inch wheel combination are suited to varied road quality, long-distance touring and gravel-road exploration without compromising everyday usability.

The six-speed gearbox is paired with an assist/slipper clutch. On the E-Clutch model, electronic clutch control and Throttle By Wire add smoother shifting, automatic throttle blipping on downshifts and additional flexibility on road and off-road.
