Cape Town, 11 August 2026. Four new Hyundai vehicles will strengthen the ability of Tygerberg Hospital’s Facility Board and the Tygerbear Foundation to reach vulnerable children, patients and families as part of a new partnership with Hyundai Automotive South Africa.
The partnership will provide the Tygerberg Hospital Facility Board with a Hyundai STARIA and the Hyundai GRAND i10 Cargo while the Tygerbear Foundation will receive a Hyundai STARIA and Hyundai ALCAZAR SUV. The vehicles will support community outreach, fundraising, programme delivery and psychosocial and trauma-informed services, enabling the organisations to extend their work beyond the hospital and into the communities they serve.
Mark Torrance, Hyundai Franchise Executive for Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal said the partnership reflected the company’s commitment to supporting communities through practical interventions.
“Mobility has the power to change lives. By providing reliable vehicles, we hope to strengthen the organisations’ ability to deliver outreach, psychosocial support and trauma-informed programmes that benefit vulnerable patients, children and families.”
Speaking at the handover event, Manette de Jager, Chairperson of the Tygerberg Hospital Facility Board and Founder/Director of the Tygerbear Foundation partnership represents far more than the sponsorship of vehicles.
“This generous sponsorship marks an especially significant milestone as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Tygerberg Hospital and the 25th anniversary of the Tygerbear Foundation. It is a celebration of partnership, compassion and a shared commitment to improving the lives of those we serve. We sincerely thank Hyundai Automotive South Africa for their confidence in the work we deliver.”
Sharief Magiet, Dealer Principal of Hyundai Milnerton said staff will also have access to preferential pricing when purchasing new Hyundai vehicles from the dealership.
“We will further extend the partnership by offering all staff a complimentary collection and delivery service when servicing their vehicles, regardless of make or model.”
The partnership highlights the role that business-community collaboration can play in strengthening support services around public healthcare, particularly for people who need help beyond the treatment they receive in hospital.
