Johannesburg, 08 January 2026 – South Africans continue to love the Hyundai brand, with Hyundai Automotive South Africa ending 2025 as the fourth largest automotive brand in the country, recording 36 409 new vehicle sales in a market characterised by unprecedented competition. The 2025 performance resulted in a 19% year-on-year growth.
The achievement comes in a year where the South African automotive industry expanded to nearly 60 active vehicle brands. Despite aggressive price-led competition from new entrants, the Korean automotive’s 2025 performance suggests local consumers continue to favour established brand with proven quality, resale value and excellent aftersales support.
“The South African automotive market has never been more competitive,” said Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa. “To finish the year as the fourth largest brand amid intense pricing pressure and new entrants, reflects strong consumer confidence in our products, exceptional aftersales support and local business model.”
While low entry pricing has intensified competition across several segments, industry observers note that South African motorists are increasingly demanding value-for-money. “We offer consumers total cost of ownership, including servicing, parts availability and long-term reliability, rather than headline prices alone,” added Anderson.
He added that the company’s success was, by and large, as a result of a clear business propositions that resonate with South African consumers as well as delivering a dependable product lineup.
“Our strategy for 2026 is centred on protecting the consumer’s long-term value. That means disciplined pricing, safety and ensuring that our customers continue to experience strong resale value, reliable servicing and peace of mind on the road.”
According to yesterday’s National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa new vehicle sales report for December 2025, Hyundai Automotive South Africa registered a strong conclusion to the year, with 3,068 new vehicle sales.
