Johannesburg, 26 October 2026.  Hyundai Automotive South Africa has been crowned the overall Manufacturer of the Year at the 2026 Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) Manufacturer of the Year (MOTY) Awards.

Hyundai secured its first Overall Gold Award since 2009, achieving the highest combined rental and leasing score among this year’s competitors.  Isuzu claimed second place overall, followed by Toyota in third.  The achievement marks a step up for Hyundai after two consecutive years of Silver recognition.

Sandile Ntseoane, General Manager at SAVRALA congratulated Hyundai Automotive South Africa on its outstanding achievement and highlighted the significance of this year’s accolades, having secured:

  • Gold – Overall Manufacturer of the Year 2026
  • Gold – Leasing Manufacturer of the Year 2026
  • Leasing Value Award – for the first time

“Winning the Overall Gold Award is a significant distinction, reflecting the confidence and recognition Hyundai has earned from the vehicle rental and leasing industries. Your exceptional performance in the Leasing category, coupled with your first Leasing Value Award, further demonstrates the strength of Hyundai's commitment to customer service, competitive value and industry partnerships,” Ntseoane stated.

Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa said the achievement reflects the dedication of the company’s employees and dealer network.

“Moving from two consecutive years of Silver recognition to Overall Gold is a tremendous achievement for Hyundai Automotive South Africa.  It reflects the commitment of our teams and dealer partners to continually improve the experience we deliver to customers and our rental and leasing partners.”

For fleet operators, the relationship with a manufacturer extends beyond buying a vehicle.  Reliable parts supply, responsive technical assistance and quality aftersales service can affect operating costs, productivity and customer satisfaction.

“Our success is built on understanding what customers need from us, not only when they purchase a vehicle, but throughout their ownership journey.  We remain focused on strengthening the support, service and value that underpin long-term customer confidence,” Anderson added.

The 2026 SAVRALA results strengthen Hyundai’s standing in the rental and leasing sector and underscores the importance of the complete ownership experience in a competitive automotive market, where 67 brands are vying for consumer attention.
