As a relatively new player in South Africa's motoring industry, many assume automotive brand LDV stands for ‘Light Delivery Vehicles’. In fact, the acronym originates from Leyland DAF Vans, a heritage that dates to the founding of Leyland Motors back in 1896 in the UK. Today, that legacy of commercial vehicle engineering continues under the LDV name, with the brand now part of the SAIC Motor Group, one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers.

While the name may not stand for ‘Light Delivery Vehicles’, LDV's expanding commercial vehicle range is gaining a loyal customer base in South Africa.

Introduced at a launch event held in Fourways, Johannesburg, the brand’s Deliver 9 and G10+ have been purpose-built to meet the diverse operational needs of businesses across a range of industries. Supporting this commercial offering is LDV’s work-focused T60 Utility workhorse range, which includes the T60 Utility Single Cab. Priced from R299 900, it is one of South Africa’s most competitively priced single-cab bakkies at its level of specification. Also joining the range is the T60 Max Plus Double Cab, powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo Euro V diesel engine producing 160 kW and 500 Nm, and priced from R699 000.

The LDV G10+ is a versatile light urban delivery van that combines compact dimensions with a generous 1 040kg payload and 5.2m³ cargo capacity.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine delivering 118kW and 375Nm through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, the G10+ combines strong performance with a fuel-efficient 7.9L/100km. Its 72-litre fuel tank and 1,500kg braked towing capacity make it well suited to a wide range of commercial uses.

The G10+ is equipped with many safety features, including forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, electronic stability control, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and dual front airbags, providing added confidence for drivers on every journey.

Additional key features include dual sliding side doors and 180° rear-opening barn doors which makes loading and unloading effortless. It’s 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ add to its many tech specifications. Leather captain's seats come with armrests and air conditioning ensuring that drivers enjoy a comfortable and connected experience.

Given these extensive features, the G10+ is perfectly suited for courier and parcel delivery, last-mile and e-commerce logistics, food delivery, mobile trades, refrigerated conversions as well as mobile pharmacy and other specialised business conversions. The LDV G10+ is priced from R 530 000.

Defying expectations of what a light delivery vehicle can be, LDV’s Deliver 9 is its flagship large commercial van built for heavier-duty transport. It offers exceptional cargo capacity, robust performance and the flexibility to support logistics, fleet operations and specialist vehicle conversions.

The Delivery 9, priced from R749 900, is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine producing 128kW and 420Nm, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. A payload of up to 1 580kg, generous cargo area of 12.33m³ and a 2 800kg braked towing capacity make it an ideal solution for businesses that need to move goods safely and efficiently.

Inside, the Deliver 9 features a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat and generous in-cabin storage. Loading and unloading is made quick and efficient by a sliding side door, wide-opening rear barn doors and an integrated rear step.

Endorsed by an ANCAP Gold Safety Rating (2024), the Deliver 9 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems including blind spot detection, lane change assist, emergency lane keeping, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a high-definition reversing camera and front, side and curtain airbags.

The Deliver 9 lends itself to a wide range of specialist conversions, including refrigerated transport, ambulances, mobile workshops, service vehicles, courier vans and mobile clinics.

Whether a business is looking for light commercial vehicles, delivery vans, panel vans, work horses, fleet vehicles or urban delivery vans, LDV’s Deliver 9 and G10+ are flexible, functional and fit-for-purpose!
