Johannesburg, South Africa — It is a well-reported fact that South Africa has one of the highest vehicle and accident rates in the world. This makes driving on South African roads a hazardous task, a fact that only gets worse over the festive season.

While motorists can do many things to try and stay safe on the roads, one of the best ways to avoid an accident and keep you and your family safe in the event of an accident is to drive a vehicle that prioritises safety, with a variety of active and passive safety features built in.

“Today’s motorists shop according to a new criteria and demand vehicles that are safe. Tata understands this and is happy to oblige with a range of modern vehicles that prioritise safety,” says Thato Magasa, CEO for the distributor of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles South Africa.

Tata returned to South Africa earlier this year and their vehicle range, which comprises four models, prioritises safety in a holistic manner, no matter the price point. All SUV models have a five-star rating while the Tiago boasts a class leading four-star safety rating.

“Tata believes that value for money shouldn't have to mean compromising, which is why we offer vehicles that are well-equipped and inherently safe, from the entry level Tiago to the top of the range Harrier, with the safety ratings to prove it,” explains Magasa.

“South Africans have more vehicles to choose from than ever before and when making purchasing decisions there are naturally compromises that consumers need to make when deciding on one model over the other. At Tata motors we believe that there should never be a compromise on safety as proven by our safety ratings. Safety is a non-negotiable - Zero Compromises,” adds Magasa.

The four-star Tata Tiago

The Tata Tiago is available with a starting price of R184 900 and with its four-star Global NCAP rating (2020 test certification), the Tiago is one of the safest entry-level hatchbacks on the road today.

When it comes to safety, the Tiago doesn't compromise. A high-strength body structure is equipped with dual airbags, hill hold control, ABS with EBD and an Electronic Stability Program. A HD reverse parking camera is the cherry on the cake of a vehicle that offers safety, clever technology and a stylish design as standard.
